Steven and Xochitl Marks are two of our newer crew members, and they usually come as a package deal! Not only are they an amazing chase crew team (we call them the dynamic duo), but they also got married in our balloon 3 years ago!!! In addition to chasing the balloon, Steven and Xochitl own a thriving cleaning business. We have been beyond thrilled to have them join us on the ground as chase crew, as well as in the air as passengers, and are honored to now consider them friends and family. We love you Steven and Xochitl!

MandyOwner / Chief Pilot
Mandy is the owner and chief pilot of Monticello Country Ballooning. She began flying in 1998 and flew commercially for several companies (Bonaire Charters and Boars Head Ballooning) before founding Monticello Country Ballooning in 2002. Mandy became hooked on lighter-than-air flight after her first flight and quickly earned her private and then commercial ratings. She is a graduate of the University of Virginia with a degree in Biology and Bioethics, which she says complements her flying nicely. Mandy is also the extremely proud mother of Alex.
Kyle has been chasing for Monticello Country Ballooning for over 8 years. Kyle started chasing with his Dad, Mr. Magic (aka Uncle Phil), 15 years ago when he was 13. He began chasing for us when he turned 20. Kyle is also a volunteer fire fighter with Albemarle County and an account manager with RMC Events. Not only does Kyle bring a high level of professionalism and safety focus to the job, he’s super fun too!
A seasoned member of our chase crew and overall wiseguy, Victoria has been with us for two years. Victoria’s full time job is in radiology at The University of Virginia while she finishes her studies there. Lucky for us Victoria loves kids and is an outstanding babysitter as well!
AlexJunior Chase Crew
Alex is Mandy’s daughter. She got about 100 flight hours in the womb and began flying with mommy at four years old. She enjoys helping out on the ground, as well as, getting up for an occasional “altitude adjustment.”
